FROM CHINA TO THE WORLD – XINGZIMIN PAN (CHINA)

Xingzimin Pan’s composition ‘Dandelion’ is not only the most frequently performed choral composition in China but has also conquered the globe, with many international choirs having performed it as their first foray into Chinese music with lyrics in Mandarin. This workshop focuses not only on Xingzimin Pan‘s music, but also that of other contemporary composers. Learn more about the choral world of China, its compositional techniques, artistic concepts and harmonic language. The celebrated Shenzhen Futian Star Bright Choir will help introduce us to the music.

Xingzimin Pan has a PhD in Composition from the University of Utah and is currently Assistant Professor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong-Shenzhen School of Music. His choral works have received an IFCM Composition Competition award, the American Prize, a RED NOTE Composition Competition prize, the Diane Loomer Award, and the China National Arts Fund Award, while his ‘Dandelion’ has been the most performed choral composition in China since its publication in 2016.
