In this fascinating and immersive workshop, Tapeta Wehi explains some of the elements that make up kapa haka and sets them in their traditional and contemporary context. By the end of the session, it is likely that participants will have learnt a waiata (song) and several phrases in te reo Māori.
Tapeta Wehi is co-founder and CEO of Te Wehi Haka, a performing arts group that provides an authentic and professional Māori cultural experience in the form of performances, traditional welcomes and cultural workshops. A composer of haka, poi and waiata for kapa haka festivals and competitions and a teacher and motivator of high-performance teams, Tapeta has dedicated his career to promoting Māori performing arts and kapa haka within Aotearoa New Zealand and all over the world.
